Cumberland House has been providing accommodation in Horley and Gatwick areas since 1975.

The house dates back to 1907.   Originally the house was a large family home.  In 1975 a local businessman bought the house and opened it as a small B&B.    Over the years the accommodation at Cumberland House B&B has undergone many changes to bring the house up to the comforts necessary for our Gatwick travellers.  Our most recent upgrade is our 20 seater elegant and inviting breakfast room with guests lounge on our ground floor.  Cooked Breakfast at Cumberland House is served at the table from 6.45am.   Currently with 8 bedrooms, Cumberland House can offer a variety of Single, Double, Twin, Triple and family rooms to sleep either 4 or 5 people.    All bedrooms are equipped with flat-screen televisions, hairdryers, alarm clock, security safe for your travel documents and Free access to the internet if you are travelling with your own computer appliance.    
 
Your bed will be dressed in white 100% cotton sheets and luxurious latex pillows with duvets on all beds.   For added comfort,  all wardrobes are equipped with extra bedding and pillows.  All rooms have central heating and fans for the warmer weather.
Bathrooms are equipped with Power Showers, nicely scented Shower Gel, Shampoo, Anti-Bacterial Hand Soap, shower caps, and white fluffy Kingsize Bath Towels.   Three of our bedrooms are newly renovated. 

NEW! At Cumberland House we have gone Duvet Mad!   All our beds including our two kingsize beds are now fitted with the most comfortable duvets.    Our regular guests love it and are sleeping sounder than ever!  Obviously, for those who prefer traditional blankets please let us know before your arrival date and we will prepare your bed with blankets and white cotton sheets for you!

NEW! At Cumberland House, we have recently renovated three of our bedrooms and currently five of our bedrooms are equipped with Memory Foam Mattresses!

NEW! At Cumberland House we now have a Guests Lounge for you to relax in.   It is furnished with reclining armchairs and footstools.   Your comfort is our goal!

Breakfast at Cumberland House

A Self-Service Breakfast is provided in our ground floor breakfast room to cater for the needs of those who have very early flights.   We provide Fruit Juice, Fresh Fruit Salad, a variety of Cereals, Tea/Coffee/, Herbal Teas and a choice of brown or white Toast with a variety of home-made jams and marmalade.

Full English is served to the table from 6.45am and can be a choice from the traditional Grilled Danish Bacon, Fried Egg or Scrambled Egg, Lincolnshire Sausage, Heinz Baked Beans, Grilled Tomato and Saute Mushroom together with Home-Made Jams and Marmalade on Brown or White Toast and as much tea & coffee as you fancy.   We are suppliers of local English Honey produced by Paynes of Sussex.   Remember to speak to Carmel about a 'Morning Glory', it is delicious.

Vegetarian Breakfast at Cumberland House is a choice of either Cheese Omlette with grilled tomato or Vegetarian sausage, hash brown, saute mushroom, grilled tomato and Baked Beans.  
 

At Cumberland House we are experienced and very careful in relation to Special Diets.   Our son is Coeliac.  Please advise us of your needs when you make your reservation.

Ye Olde Six Bells Pub/Restaurant is three minutes walk from our front door where you can sample British Cuisine at its best.     Ye Olde Six Bells is a 15th Century Pub.  As the pub is busy we will need to make a reservation for you to eat.

A belated thank you to you both for your patience on Saturday 18 December when we were caught in the snow chaos on the M1 on our way down from north Wales and kept you up till nearly midnight; and also for so kindly defrosting my car prior to our arrival back from Norway on Boxing Day.  I really appreciated not having to scrape the windscreen and put the children into a freezing car!  I have recommended you to my Mum and Dad who travel more frequently than us although I don't think they have any travel planned at present.  The Smith Family, Powys, Wales.  6th January 2011.

Dear Carmel and Clive, We just wanted to write to thank you for giving us the perfect start and end to our holiday.  As soon as we arrived at Cumberland House you made us feel very welcome.  After a good night's sleep we thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful breakfasts, before being taken to the airport in plenty of time for our flight.  When we returned to England last night, the change in temperature was a shock, but thank you for the prompt arrival when picking us up and also for getting our car defrosted and warmed up, ready for our onward journey - it was something we hadn't even considered, but was very much appreciated.  If only the whole country was run as efficiently as this, we would all be laughing!!  We will most certainly be looking to stay with you again when travelling from Gatwick and we will recommend you to all of our friends and family.  Many thanks again.   Carol and Neil.  Surrey, England. 30 November 2010.
